Ballon d'Or nominees list includes Harry Kane, N'Golo Kante, Neymar, Luka Modric and Philippe Coutinho

Tottenham striker Harry Kane has been named among the first half of nominees for the Ballon d'Or 2017, France Football has revealed.

The prestigious award, which was aligned with FIFA from 2010 to 2015, has been won by either Cristiano Ronaldo or Lionel Messi for the past nine years.

Ronaldo picked up his fourth Ballon d'Or last year to move one behind Messi, and the Portugal and Real Madrid forward is odds-on favourite to make it five this time around.

France Football has opted to stagger out the nominees throughout Monday, with Kane one of five Premier League players to be announced on the shortlist so far.

Liverpool midfielder Philippe Coutinho also features, as does Chelsea's N'Golo Kante, Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea and Manchester City's Kevin De Bruyne.

Paris Saint-Germain's Neymar, Real Madrid trio Sergio Ramos, Marcelo and Luka Modric, and Barcelona striker Luis Suarez have also made the list of 30.

Ronaldo is just 1/33 with Sky Bet to lift the award again, with Messi the 14/1 second favourite followed by Gianluigi Buffon (33/1) and Neymar (50/1), while Kane is given a 100/1 chance.

The Ballon d'Or is judged solely by a panel of journalists after FIFA and France Football ended their partnership in 2015.

In September, Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi and Neymar were nominated as finalists for the Best FIFA Men's Player award.

Buhari, govs’ breakfast photograph fake, says Fani-Kayode

The picture of a handful of APC governors and President Muhammadu Buhari, which was purportedly taken in London on Sunday, is old and fake, ex-Aviation Minister and Buhari’s unsparing critic, Femi Fani-Kayode, has said.
In an article currently circulating on the web, Fani-Kayode said he was “reliably informed that (the photo) was taken during a Ramadan (celebration) in Abuja sometime back and not yesterday (Sunday) in London.”
He also noted that though the photograph was meant to have been taken in London, “curiously, all the drinks on the table are Nigerian products and Nigerian-made.”


“Did the governors take all those drinks along with them to London when they went to see the President?” Fani-Kayode asked.
He also asked to know if President Buhari was no longer returning anytime soon, as claimed by Acting President Yemi Osinbajo and some government officials who, he noted, “recently told us that he (Buhari) would be back on the 28th of July.”
He described the photograph and the governors’ visit as “puerile and nauseating conspiracy.”
Reminding the nation about President Muhammadu Buhari’s statement at his inauguration where he said “I belong to all,” Fani-Kayode wrote, “We do not wish the President dead; but we have a right to know the truth.
“As a matter of fact, we demand to know that truth because, as he once said himself, he ‘belongs to us all.’”
Expressing doubts about the much reported meeting, Fani-Kayode asked why the Nigerian and foreign media were not allowed to cover the proceedings and participate in the event.
He also wondered why the Villa press corps did not take one of their own cameramen to London and make a short video of the event.
He would also want to know why President Buhari was not recorded on audio tape and interviewed while he was with his guests.
He said that Governor Rochas Okorocha’s statement could not be believed for all of the reasons he (Fani-Kayode) had stated.


Tearing the photograph apart, Fani-Kayode asked, “Why did Buhari not shake anyone’s hands during the photo-shoot?
“Why did he not get up from his chair…? Why was he just sitting there …?”
He advised those who love Buhari to tell him to either resign or be taken to a Nigerian faith healer (name withheld).
Taking umbrage against the Nigerian media, Fani-Kayode wrote, “…We have a media that is so fawning in its attitude when it comes to the Federal Government and that is so easily intimidated that they simply refuse to ask the right questions about this matter, or undertake to carry out the necessary investigations with a view to establishing the truth.”
He also condemned the National Assembly for refusing to impeach Buhari.
He wrote: “Yet it doesn’t stop there. We have a Senate with 109 distinguished … senators and a House of Representatives with over 300 honourable legislators and yet, not one of them has the fortitude or guts to call for the resignation of this … man…”

 He concluded his rather long write-up by recommending: “It is time for Buhari’s seat to be declared vacant and it is time for Acting President Yemi Osinbajo to fully take over and be sworn-in as the new and substantive President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”

Neymar reportedly agrees £500,000 per week, six-year contract with PSG

Barcelona forward Neymar has reportedly agreed terms with Paris Saint-Germain over a six-year contract.
According to reports, the Brazillian will earn a whopping £500,000 per week should he eventual join the Ligue 1 side.
According to Carlos Carpio of Marca, Neymar’s father recently met with PSG sporting director Antero Henrique and board member Sophie Jordan to finalise the transfer.


Carpio suggested the deal will go through when PSG “deposit the €222 million of [Neymar’s] termination clause, which it appears will be done via the personal sponsorship of Qatar.”

Marca say Neymar will sign six-year PSG deal on £500,000 a week. Total cost £352m. £196m release clause + £156m wages

Buhari may return in two weeks – Okorocha

Ailing Nigerian president, Muhammadu Buhari, may be back in the country in two weeks, Governor Rochas Okorocha has reportedly said.
President Buhari had not been seen in public since leaving Nigeria on May 7th, 2017 for treatment in the United Kingdom. But, on Sunday a delegation of governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress met with Buhari in London.

According to the BBC, Okorocha, who was part of the delegation, said he expects President Buhari to return home from the UK within the next two weeks.
Governor Okorocha said President Buhari was completely unperturbed by the cocktail of lies. He, instead, sent his best wishes to Nigerians.
According to the governor, Nigerians don’t have to worry at all, adding that President Buhari will be back as soon as the doctors give him the green light.
“By our visit to London today, the merchants of lies have been put out of business and Nigerians will not buy the garbage they have been selling.
“All those who look up to fake news can find better use for their time,” Governor Okorocha said.

 Governors Umaru Tanko Al-Makura of Nasarawa; Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna; Yahaya Bello of Kogi; and APC National Chairman, Chief John Oyegun, were also in the delegation.
