Chelsea wing-back Victor Moses is facing a month out of action after injuring his hamstring in the Blues’ defeat to former club Crystal Palace at the weekend.
Nigerian international Moses, who plays as a defender for the Blues despite a more forward role with his national side, is the third Chelsea player to succumb to a hamstring injury in recent weeks, with Spanish striker Alvaro Morata and French midfielder N’Golo Kante also suffering.
The injury to Moses comes as a massive blow to Chelsea manager Antonio Conte, who is reported by the Telegraph to be considering moving a central defender into midfield when the Blues play Roma in midweek, to offer his back line more protection.
The Telegraph’s report states that Moses will miss up to four weeks of action, meaning that Italian full-back Davide Zappacosta is set for an extended spell in the Chelsea starting eleven, after replacing the injured Moses at Selhurst Park on Saturday afternoon.
Moses, 26, graduated from Crystal Palace’s youth system, before moving to Wigan Athletic and then Chelsea, from whom he was sent out on loan to Liverpool, Stoke City and West Ham United before finding his feet and settling into the Blues’ first team, where he has made 44 appearances since the start of last season.
